"Going Green" is nothing new, but standing out from the recent onslaught of eco-friendly shopping choices is Toronto based line NaMoDa's mission. An eclectic blend of streetware-inspired shapes and feminine embellishments, the 14-piece spring collection has been created with an attention to detail that tends to get lost when working with organic fabrics. "Sustainable clothing doesn't have to be boxy and stiff," she says. "I looked at how my clothes fit and the way fabrics draped, so in the end I was just making things I would want to wear." Highlights from the current season include paper-bag-waist capri pants, an open-back wrap dress, and a sparky knotted tank. NaMoDa, which incidentally is Polish slang, for 'in fashion,' is made from new fabrics that blend soy, organic cotton, hemp, silk, and bamboo. With prices ranging from $30 to $300, Sosinski's newest creations are sure to follow in the footsteps of her previous fall collection, which sold out.
